In Mexico, in Oaxaca, striking teachers occupied the main square
of the city since May 22, 2006.
mainly from rural areas and Indian, they are asking for better conditions
of work and life. Figure Oaxaca, Chiapas and with Guerrero
among the poorest states in the country. A long tradition of struggle
feeds
the revolt of the people, who overwhelmingly support and manifest its
social discontent. Mobilizations of June have led some
million people in the streets in a state with 3 million
and a half inhabitants.

June 14, Governor Ulises Ruiz Ortiz (URO) is launching an operation to dislodge the police
Instit. After a five-hour battle which

Indignation grows and mouvements'organise, giving rise to
People's Assembly of the People of Oaxaca (APPO), which includes more than 350
organizations, various sectors of the population and residents
